County forecastAbout Southern Oregon Weather
Southern Oregon spans a remarkable range of climates within a single region. The Pacific Coast counties — Coos and western Lane — experience cool, foggy summers and wet, mild winters driven entirely by the Pacific Ocean. Just 60 miles inland, the Umpqua and Rogue valleys bake in 90–100°F heat in July while the coast stays in the 60s.
Douglas County, Oregon's largest county by area, contains the entire Umpqua River watershed. Roseburg, the county seat, is a transition point — warmer than coastal cities but cooler than the Rogue Valley to the south. Jackson County's Rogue Valley is Southern Oregon's most distinctive weather zone, famous for extreme summer heat, winter tule fog, and wildfire weather.
East of the Cascades, Klamath County presents yet another climate entirely: high desert, cold winters, and Oregon's most sunshine. This incredible diversity makes Southern Oregon one of the most weather-variable regions in the Pacific Northwest — and why hyper-local forecasts matter so much here.
